Eagle,Chelaberd or Sunburst Kazak rug from Armenia,southwest Caucasus

Size: 7′.5"X4′.7" (226X140 cm)

The red field displays a single characteristic sunburst medallion in:red,ivory,green,yellow and dark blue.Above and below are half octagons in ivory with spinal floral details.In addition there are yellow brackets on the half octagons.The abrashed dark brown reserves feature stylized rosettes and flower heads.Along the sides of the field are hooked triangles,animals,boxes and rosettes.The iconic ivory main border shows stars with double connecting lines.The minor borders are in blue and dark brown with triangle motif.There are four bitonal barber pole lines in the border system.At each end is a warp macrame strip.The handle is thick,soft and heavy.The condition of this beautiful piece is good with original ends and sides.
