Eagle,Chelaberd or Sunburst Kazak rug from Armenia,southwest Caucasus

Age: circa 1885

Size: 6′.5″x4′.11″ (196×150 cm)

The red field presents two iconic ivory sunburst medallions,each enclosing a navy,red,green and yellow central cross as well as small rosettes and ivory diamonds.From each medallion radiate a variety of colorful stylized flowers.The characteristic ivory main border shows a doubly attached stars in various colors and small diamond spacers.There are two reciprocal blue and dark brown triangle minor borders and four red and white and red and yellow narrow barber pole lines.The colors are vibrant.The rug has a chunky and pliable handle.The pile is good and so is the condition.SOLD
