Eagle,Chelaberd or Sunburst Kazak rug from Armenia,southwest Caucasus

Age: circa 1880

Dimensions: 8′.3"x4′.11" (251×150 cm)

This classic Eagle Kazak displays two traditional bold stellate medallions each with a green center.These elements are separated by an unusual ivory strip with double "X" and crab motifs.This band is repeated at the top and bottom of the field.At the lower end are a pair of yellow,green and red reciprocal claw patterned stripes.The main ivory border displays a star and bar pattern popular with this group of rugs.There is an outer triangle pattern reciprocal in blue and brown.All the colors are from natural sources.The pile is high and the rug is in very good condition.SOLD
