Chi-Chi rug from Kuba district,eastern Caucasus

Age: circa 1890

Measurements: 9′.4"x4′.3" (284×130) cm

This classic Chi-Chi rug displays on the abrashed blue field hooked medallions alternating complex octagons.In addition there are polychrome rosettes and small geometric devices closely filling in around the larger elements.The dark brown diagonal bar and rosette main border is iconic for Chi-Chi weavings.The minor borders have colorful heart patterns.The outermost band is an abrashed red and green keyhole reciprocal.The colors are soft and the condition is good including the original ends and sides.
