Checkerboard fragment (17)

2' 9" x 2' 5" (84 x 74 cm)

Tibetan checkerboard rug fragment

Age: circa 1850

Size: 2′.9"x2′.5" (84×74 cm)

Although reduced in size, the simple and direct appeal of this two tone, red and light blue, piece is not impaired. The Tibetan knot is used and this gives it a chunky but pliable handle. The warp is cotton and so is the weft.Although spot worn, there is no restoration to this attractive example.

THROUGH OUR EFFORTS TO PROVIDE THE HIGHEST QUALITY IMAGES, WE USE VERY HIGH RESOLUTION PHOTOS. IF YOU CANNOT SEE THE WHOLE RUG PLEASE TRY REFRESHING THE PAGE – SOME LONG RUGS MAY NOT FIT WITHOUT ZOOMING.
