Bordjalou Kazak (86) – SOLD

7' 2" x 4' 7" (218 x 140 cm)

Bordjalou Kazak rug from Armenia, southwest Caucasus

Age: circa 1880

Dimensions: 7′.2"x4′.7" (218×140 cm)

This interesting Kazak is a combination of two well known types:the field pattern on blue green, with two ivory boxes and three elongated red medallions, all edged by a chessboard stripe,is purely Karatchoph. But the zig-zag ivory hooked border with fillers in a variety of colors,is wholly Bordjalou. The blue green tones are often attractively abrashed. The colors are fantastic including a rare aubergine. The wool is of good quality, soft and lustrous and the ends and sides are present. The condition is very good.SOLD
