Bordjalou Kazak prayer rug from southwest Caucasus

Size: 4′.10"x3′.9" (147×114 cm)

In the characteristic Bordjalou prayer style,the red ground displays two grass green fringed hexagons flanked by two blue cartouches as well as rosettes,stars,diamonds and smaller elements.The shouldered light blue niche arch is repeated darker in the lower re-entrant.There are two important borders:both have the same reciprocal pattern,the inner in ivory and dark brown and the outer in green and red.There are six two tone barber pole lines in the border system and three solid abrashed blue minors.The selvedges are banded in pile colors.All the colors are from natural sources.The rug is fine and the weave is tight.The bottom red kilim finish has some kind of multicolor decoration in pile technique.The condition of this attractive rug is good.SOLD
