Bakhtiari soumak bag from south west Persia (Iran)

The navy blue ground of this particularly eye catching bagface is ornamented with red pinwheels and colorful winged devices.In the interstices are diamonds,lazy S’s and leaves.All the white in both field and border is cotton.The white main border displays step crosses connected by double lines.There are two minor borders with variations on the reciprocal S pattern.The multicolor tabs are intact and there is a band of red and dark blue weft patterned design below the closure tabs.All the colors are from natural sources including the peach,aubergine and green.The condition is quite good except for some minor problems visible from the image.SOLD
