Anatolian rug (5) – SOLD

4' 0" x 3' 2" (122 x 97 cm)

Western Anatolian prayer rug from Turkey

Age: circa 1880

Size: 4′.0"x3′.2" (122x97cm)

The overall visual impression is of strength mingled with minimality. The mihrab outline re-enters the niche at the lower end of the ivory field. The rare main border sports small triangles and kilim-like elements. There are attractive red broad kilim ends with partial loss of the bottom finish. Many Anatolian rugs of this region use the cicim technique to embellish their kilim ends and here one end has a brocaded, blue "S".The colors are beautiful and the condition is good.SOLD

THROUGH OUR EFFORTS TO PROVIDE THE HIGHEST QUALITY IMAGES, WE USE VERY HIGH RESOLUTION PHOTOS. IF YOU CANNOT SEE THE WHOLE RUG PLEASE TRY REFRESHING THE PAGE – SOME LONG RUGS MAY NOT FIT WITHOUT ZOOMING.
