Afshar rug from south east Persia (Iran)

Size: 5′.10″x4′.2″ (178×127 cm)

This attractive south east Persian tribal rug shows a red field presenting green and blue medallions all with radiating palmette octagon centers.In addition there are fractional secondary medallions which are outlined in ivory and set along the sides and in the corners.Finally,there is a fill of small rosettes,flowers and boxes.The unusual navy main border hosts carnation like flowers and floret sprays.It is flanked by ivory minor borders with identical ribbon meanders.At each end is light red flatwoven band.All the colors are from natural sources.The handle is soft and the condition is good.
