Bakhtiari rug (87) (710)

Bakhtiari rug from South West Persia (Iran)

Age: circa 1890

Measurements: 6'.7"x4'.7" (201x140 cm)

This elegant full pile Armenian village weaving from the Chahar Mahal district is derived from urban prototypes. The elliptical red field is centered by a light blue and navy volute medallion with matching trefoil pendants, and is encircled with a vine wreath of colorful leaves and flowers. The scalloped blue corners are anchored by yellow palmettes. The main border,of a deep camel color, has grape bunches interspersed with vines, delicately drawn flowers and other vegetal elements. The inner and outer minor borders,in navy, each display rosettes and forked leaves. The colors are from natural sources. The pile is good and so is the condition with an exception of a couple of lines missing from both ends.

Through our efforts to provide the highest quality images, we use very high resolution photos. If you cannot see the whole rug please try refreshing the page - Some long rugs may not fit without zooming.
