Chodor fragment from West Turkmenistan

Age: circa 1850

Dimensions: 2'.7"x2'.8" (79x81 cm)

The columns of torba type guls quartered in red and ivory decorate a purple ground and are separated by Chemchy minor guls.The main border consists of multicolor panels each enclosing in stylized flowers.The purple elem displays pair Ashiks in red and ivory.There is a narrow upper elem with simplified trefoil devices.All the colors are from natural sources including the green.The weave is compact and the condition of the fragment is good.
