Shirvan rug from Eastern Caucasus,west coast of the Caspian Sea

Age: circa 1880

Dimensions: 4'.5"x3'.1" (135x94 cm)

The design of this rug is virtually unique:a pole medallion of three diamond elements is supported by an angular red armature.The ivory main border contains squares with triangle fringes and the matching minors are in a parallelogram pattern.There is a wealth of minor details in the field.The weave is quite fine.The rug has fantastic colors.The condition is very good.
