Gendje long rug (53) (216)

Gendje long rug from South Caucasus

Age: circa 1880

Size: 10'.4"x3'.11" (315x119 cm)

Gendje rugs almost always appear in repeating patterns and this attractive yellow ground piece employs unidirectional palmette repeat within a broken lattice stabilized by square bosses. The border is seen on Kazak rugs and is seemingly more archaic in character than the field which may be taken from a brocade textile. The minor borders in red and blue are simple repeats. The colors are nice and the rug is generally in good condition.

Through our efforts to provide the highest quality images, we use very high resolution photos. If you cannot see the whole rug please try refreshing the page - Some long rugs may not fit without zooming.
