Yuruk prayer rug from Eastern Anatolia,Turkey

Size: 4'.6"x4'.1" (137x124 cm)

"Yuruk" is Turkish for tribal nomad and this rug was woven by a Kurdish group using design elements found in Ladik prayer rugs from farther west.Both the three pointed upper panel,and the tulip and van dyke lower section are artistic adaptations from more urban rugs.The main salmon border displays a rosette and vine pattern.The wool is of excellent quality and the dyes are clear.The pile is high and the rug is in good condition.
