Kuba rug from eastern Caucasus,west coast of the Caspian Sea

Age: circa 1870

Size: 5'.9"x3'.7" (175x109 cm)

The yellow ground reveals a repeating Chi-Chi pattern in burgundy,red,rose,ivory,blue,green,camel and dark brown.Octagons and bent leaves are among the pattern in elements.A burgundy innermost frame employs very colorful connected stepped crosses.The ivory main border shows stars-in-octagons with cane dividers,all in field colors.Additionally there are two black and blue keyhole reciprocal minor borders and eight two tone barber pole lines in the border system.The selvedges are wrapped in blue.The handle is soft and pliable.All the colors are from natural sources.The piece is in good condition.
