Shahsavan piled bag from north west Persia (Iran)

This wild high pile saddle bag shows a soumak derived allover pattern of colorful diamonds enclosing crosses,all in a lattice detailed in ivory,red,light blue,green,navy,chocolate,yellow and palest pink.The main border shares the same palette and is diagonally striped with double ended boteh accents.The blue outer border hosts a red diamond chain on one end and keyhole reciprocals on the others.The red and blue bitonal barber pole line surrounds the center and other narrow barber pole lines divide diagonals of the main border.At the lower end is a narrow flatwoven finish.The handle is soft,chunky and pliable.The colors are sharp and vivid.The condition of the piece is good.
