The open ivory beige stepped cartouche-form sub field displays a navy pattern medallion with en suite pendants, each accented by two small peacocks. The surrounding light blue field shows an angular arabesque pattern with rose and other colorful palmettes, numerous small animals, rosettes and several stylized human figures. The red main border displays angular irises, jagged leaves and squared rosettes. The yellow inner border hosts a rosette, small leaf and angular meander. This design appears in Persian village rugs from Azerbaijan to the Afshars. The flanking light blue minor borders show a repeating three leaf clover design. The plain beige outer border surrounds the composition on three sides. The piece is heavy and extremely solid. All the colors are from natural sources. The condition is good in general but here are low pile areas and one end has the beige solid border missing. The carpet is folded in the middle to fit the camera.
