Karagashli rug from Kuba district,eastern Caucasus

Age: circa 1870

Measurements: 6′.1"x3′.6" (185×107 cm)

The navy field is decorated with a classic Karagashli pole medallion of three hexagons and large red sunburst finials.There are animals and ivory snowflakes in the center.The attractive yellow main border contains multicolor hooked chain design and is flanked by dark brown minor guards with multicolor rosettes.The elegant ivory narrow "S" border surrounds the navy center and the outermost one surrounds the whole.The colors are from natural sources.The weave is fine and compact.The condition is very good.
