Milas prayer rug,South Western Anatolia,circa 1880.Measurements:4'.1"x3'.7" (124x109 cm).This diminutive Milas prayer rug charms us in several ways.The attractive red mihrab floats in an ivory panel with rose of serrated leaves above and is surrounded by five narrow colorful geometric borders.The main soft yellow border has a decor of wildly colorful rosettes in aubergine,two shades of red,blue,ivory and camel-tan.The outer aubergine border has a pattern of colorful rosettes.The condition is very good with surviving kilim ends and original selvages.
