Cloudband Kazak rug from Southwest Caucasus.Cloudbands are one of the most popular kazak rugs among Caucasian rugs..As in every rug good ones are always in demand.This particular one is circa 1875,finely woven,measures 7'.11"x3'.9" (241x114cm) It has very nice saturated colors and it is in full pile.There are two blue medallions and a green one in the middle.The blue medallions have abrash which means change of color.Simply weaver decided to put a different shade and we see that in many rugs.The green medallion is very attractive,all three have yellow color centers and that design is often seen in rugs from this group.The ivory crab border is a typical Cloudband border and so are the narrow red and yellow barber pole borders.The rug has a fine and tight weave,fantastic wool quality,nicely decorated field,lots of details and elements including animal and human figures.It is a very collectible and decorative item.
