Silk Tabriz prayer rug,Azerbaijan Province,Northwest Persia,circa 1880.Dimensions of the piece:5'.2"x4'.1" (157x124 cm).The champagne field displays a hanging floral ornament and flanking non-functional columns,all beneath a niche defined by vermiculated spandrels.The border,in a matching beige,has a vigorous vine pattern.The weave is extremely fine,but the handle is soft,and the colors are beautiful.The warp is silk.It is in excellent condition.
