Neiriz rug,Kerman Province,South East Persia,circa 1890.Dimensions of the piece:6'.1"x4'.4" (185x132 cm).Woven near Lake Neiriz,this tribal rug has an attractive ivory field with stylized flower bouquets in the Western manner (gol-i-firangi),probably adapted from a printed textile.The clusters are surrounded by a myriad of tiny dots.The borders are asymmetrically arranged,with the yellow major border innermost.Again,a stylized European flower pattern is used.The weave is very firm and the intact kilim ends are present.This rug is in good condition.
