Dazkiri rug from Western Anatolia with an unusual square size.It is circa 1870,good condition, nice colors, attractive design, soft handle, measures 5'.10"x5'.8" (178x173cm) interesting details and good color harmony.Dazkiri rugs are quite popular among Anatolian rug collectors. The most common design is this one which has a medallion and we see quite a lot of green color domination in Dazkiri rugs. This one has a large square size with an unusual light blue border. The red field has interesting details in different colors and shapes. The green field which is inside the red field has several shades of green which is called abrash.Abrash means change of color. The weaver decided to put a different shade which we see this in many antique rugs. The lighter color red medallion inside the green one and the smaller yellow medallion are some of the qualities we see in Dazkiri rugs. The main border is nicely decorated and it has two minor borders both sides in different colors and designs. The narrow yellow border design changes at the bottom part which is a sign of a tribal weaving rather than a workshop piece.
