Bessarabian kilim from Moldavia.The size is 9'.2"x5'.7" (279x170cm) circa 1880,thick handle,nice colors,attractive design,some old repairs done here and there but overall in good condition.Kilim means flatweave and this one is very decorative.The dark field creates a good contrast with the rest of the piece.The design in the center is quite unusual and there are interesting elements in the field.The main border is simple and powerful.The dark color has abrash which means change of color,gives the piece a different look.Unlike oriental rugs this European piece has no minor borders.There is the center,main border and a dark line surounding the whole piece.It is a very charming kilim to own.
