Belutch prayer rug (26)

This is a very nice Belutch prayer rug in perfect condition with great wool quality and unusual piled ends.The size is 5'.8"x2'.11" (173x0.89cm) circa 1880,good design and drawing,tight weave,nice colors and attractive border.The Belutch weaved beautiful rugs and other kind of weavings.This particular one has a camel color field with stylised botehs each row facing opposite direction.Besides the botehs there are also other elements such as flowers,dots etc which are very attractive.The two hands either side of the mihrab show the prayer direction.Inside the mihrab there is a medallion which has some silk highlights.The main border is well drawn and the ivory minor border creates a nice contrast.Usually Belutch rugs have kilim,flatwoven ends but here we have piled ones with stripes design which would be very appealing to collectors.
