North West Persian rug, probably Azerbaijan Province, circa 1880.Size:7'.2"x4'.1" (218x124 cm).Very much in the Caucasian manner, but made farther south, this rug employs a diagonal array of narrow stripes in navy, red and ivory, with multiple, narrow rosette borders which are strongly abrashed and the color change may be the result of a switch in wool spools rather than a dyestuff change. The rug is very charming and totally authentic. This full pile piece has meaty handle and is in very good condition.
