This is a Tibetan checkerboard rug fragment. It is reduced in length but has very good to okay pile. There is no restoration, circa 1850,measures 2'.9"x2'.5" (0.84x0.74cm) and the colors are very nice. This design is one of the most attractive designs among the rugs from this region. The handle is very soft and although there is wear the piece is very much collectible. The knots are thick and the wefts are white cotton.
